Hydrating Our Community: How Absopure Supports Michigan Causes

At Absopure, we believe in being more than just a water company—we’re also a neighbor and partner dedicated to hydrating our community while supporting causes that matter. Our ties to Michigan run deep, and for decades, we’ve made it our mission to give back in meaningful ways.

We support local organizations, charities, and events through sponsorships and donations, providing nearly one million bottles of water each year to help their causes. Below are just a few of the community events and partnerships we’re proud to support.

Hope Water Project: Running for Clean Water

One example of our community commitment is our partnership with the Hope Water Project, a Michigan-based nonprofit that brings clean drinking water to the Pokot people of western Kenya.

Earlier this summer, we were honored to support the Hope Water Project’s annual 5K run, where runners and walkers raised funds to drill new water wells for communities in need. By donating Absopure water for the event, we help ensure that participants stay hydrated, allowing the organization to direct more resources to its mission.

One recent Hope Water Project 5K raised over $28,000, enough to fund a well that will provide safe water to thousands. It’s incredible to see how a morning run in Michigan can transform lives around the world, and we’re grateful to play a role in that journey.

Breakthrough T1D Walks: Stepping Toward a Cure

Supporting local health causes is equally important to us. That’s why we’ve been long-time supporters of Breakthrough T1D (formerly known as JDRF)—the leading organization driving research and advocacy for type 1 diabetes.

This year, we’re proud to provide water at several of their Breakthrough T1D One Walk events across Michigan. These family-friendly walks unite communities to support everyone affected by Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and to fund breakthroughs to cure and treat the disease.

We’ll be on the sidelines cheering and handing out water as walkers stride toward the finish line. It’s always inspiring to see hundreds of families and teams come together for these walks, and we’re happy to help keep them refreshed and motivated every step of the way.

Rhonda Walker Foundation: Fitness for a Cause

We’re also gearing up for the Rhonda Walker Foundation’s 15th Annual Give and Get Fit event—a 5K/10K run and health fair taking place on Sunday, July 27, 2025, along Detroit’s beautiful Riverwalk.

This event brings together over 400 health-conscious Metro Detroiters for a fun morning of running, walking, and wellness activities, all in support of RWF’s mission to empower teen girls.

We love that this event encourages fitness and invests in the next generation of young women. We’ll be there to hydrate the runners and join in the enthusiasm.

Life Remodeled Six Day Project: Revitalizing Neighborhoods

Giving back isn’t always about races and runs. Sometimes, it’s about rolling up our sleeves to clean up and rebuild the community. One project especially close to our hearts is the Life Remodeled Six Day Project in Detroit.

This year’s project is scheduled for September 29 – October 4, 2025, and will mobilize thousands of volunteers to revitalize a large area on the city’s east side. Over the course of six intense days, volunteers will mow overgrown lots, clear trash and debris, trim brush, and beautify roughly four square miles of neighborhoods around the new Anchor Detroit opportunity hub.

We’ll be on-site again, keeping the hardworking crews hydrated with plenty of Absopure water as they transform the community. It’s inspiring to witness what can happen when people come together with a shared purpose. Block by block, positive change takes root.

YMCA Summer Runs: Buck Creek Run & Byron Days 5K

Lastly, we’re excited to support some local summer runs with the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids that combine fitness, family fun, and community giving. In late June, the Visser Family YMCA Buck Creek Run in Grandville zig-zagged through neighborhood streets as part of the city’s Independence Day celebrations.

This annual 5K run/walk gets families out exercising and raises funds for the Y’s community programs. Proceeds from Buck Creek Run help support middle school students in Grandville, Jenison, and Hudsonville through the Visser Family YMCA Impact After School Program.

On July 26, the SpartanNash YMCA Byron Days 5K took place during the Byron Center community’s summer festival, with runners hitting the pavement to benefit the SpartanNash YMCA’s programs.

Events like this exemplify the YMCA’s mission of strengthening community in spirit, mind, and body. It’s a lot of fun handing out water to runners as they sprint toward the finish line. Seeing neighbors and friends cheering each other on for a great cause is what community is all about.

Stay Connected and Keep Giving Back

These are just a few examples of the many community-based events and causes we’re honored to support. Our summer calendar is happily filled with opportunities to give back! We invite you to follow us on social media to catch more of these moments and see how we’re staying involved in hydrating our community year-round.

From big marathons to neighborhood cleanups, whenever there’s a chance to make a positive impact (and hand out refreshing Absopure water), we’ll be there.
