Absopure’s Efforts Toward a More Sustainable Future
Earth Day is the perfect time to celebrate our commitment to sustainability! At Absopure, we prioritize environmental responsibility every day, but today, we’re shining a light on some of the green initiatives we’re most proud of in 2025. Our efforts toward a more sustainable future go beyond recycling; they’re about rethinking how we source, use, and repurpose materials to minimize waste and promote a healthier planet.
Giving New Life To Old Plastic
Did you know Absopure is one of the first bottled water companies to voluntarily recycle its own plastic? It’s true! Absopure has spent nearly 40 years making new opportunities out of used plastic through our partnership with Clean Tech.
Today, Clean Tech processes more than 200 million pounds of plastic annually, keeping about 8 billion bottles worth of plastic out of landfills yearly. Their proprietary, closed-loop system minimizes plastic waste while continuously repurposing usable materials into new products.
Fully Recyclable—and Beyond
At Absopure facilities, we prioritize the recyclability of each piece of plastic we create. Every shape and size of Absopure’s single-serve water bottles is 100% recyclable, and our Eco-Pak™ bottles take the process a step further. Eco-Pak™ containers are made with 25% recycled plastic—a number that has almost doubled in recent years thanks to continued research into maximizing the reusability of our plastics.
Absopure also extends the lives of our largest plastic products, like our 3 and 5-gallon bottles for coolers, by offering free pickup and recycling. We’re happy to help give new life to these containers, free of charge for all our delivery customers.
2024 Recycle Bowl: Record-Breaking Impact
Absopure’s community event sponsorships also reflect our commitment toward a more sustainable future. In 2024, Absopure partnered with the University of Michigan for the Recycle Bowl, an ambitious event initially created to attempt a new World Record for recycling. The event was held during the Michigan vs. Oregon football game at Michigan Stadium—known as The Big House for its massive 107,000+ capacity.
The Recycle Bowl collected over 22 tons of recyclable materials like rPET bottles, metal, paper products, and wooden pallets, about a 10% increase over the results of the first Recycle Bowl in 2023. The 2024 Recycle Bowl ended as the largest recycling effort in the history of Michigan Stadium.
A Consistent Focus On Sustainability
We take sustainability seriously at Absopure. As a bottled water company, we recognize an added responsibility to keep plastic out of waterways and landfills. As we look ahead, Absopure’s sustainability experts will continue exploring new ways to minimize our environmental impact while providing high-quality and responsibly sourced water to our customers—as we have for more than 100 years.
Absopure remains dedicated to keeping our planet healthy, clean, and beautiful as we work toward a more sustainable future. Learn more about our green initiatives and ways you can get involved in honor of Earth Day!
