7 Ways to Drink More Water That You Might Not Have Heard Before

Everyone knows we should drink more water – but how many of us are actually doing it?

According to the Mayo Clinic, males should drink about 13 cups of water per day while females should drink at least nine. If you exercise, plan on drinking 16 to 24 ounces of water to replace fluids lost during exercise. There are many benefits of drinking water, as it positively affects your energy level, health and mood.

Although we know drinking water is good for us, the challenge becomes remembering to drink enough water throughout the day—especially when we don’t feel thirsty. If you want to make a habit of drinking more water, we put together seven tips that you might not have thought about that can help you reach your goal.

1. Bring a gallon of water to work
Take a gallon of Absopure water to work and see how much you can drink before you’re off the clock. One gallon is equivalent to 16 cups, so if you can drink half of that during a shift, you’re well on your way to a healthier day! You can even draw lines on the gallon jug with a specific time next to it, as a way to remind yourself to drink more water throughout the day.

2. Spice your water up
Remember – water doesn’t have to be boring! Absopure’s Cap10 All Natural Sparkling Mineral Water is a great way to change things up. Plus, it comes in eight fruity flavors! Find your favorite and you’ll be surprised how easy it is to drink water.

3. Use water as a reward
Want that dessert during your lunch break? Don’t let yourself get it unless you’ve drank four glasses of water during your morning. Ideally, you’ll be fuller and can skip the dessert anyway!

4. Use a straw
This one is simple, but lots of people find that it is easier to drink fast with a straw. Don’t believe it? Try for yourself!

5. Add frozen fruit!
Frozen fruit adds a delightful hint of flavor to any water. Freeze some lemon, orange or lime slices and put them in your drink – they also make great ice cubes.

6. There’s an app for that!
These days, there’s an app for everything—including drinking more water! Apps like Waterlogged and MyFitness Pal can help you set your water intake goals and track your progress throughout the day. Waterlogged will even send you reminders throughout the day.

7. Challenge your friends
Sometimes competition is the perfect motivator! Make a friendly wager with a family member, friend or co-worker on who can drink more water each day.
